Greetings Everyone, 

         I am happy to return to Our Lady of Florida Spiritual Center.  I was on the Retreat Team two years ago and did some promotion work and a few parish missions.  I return now as an itinerate preacher.  I am available to give Parish Missions, Days and Evening of Recollection. 

    It is challenging times we live in.  As a faith-filled people we are called to as the Prophet Micah tells us - Act justly, Love tenderly and Walk humbly with our God.  But the question is - just how do we do that on a day to day basis?  I believe people today, all ages and all walks of life, are searching for meaning and purpose in their lives.  People hunger and thirst for the nourishment and direction that only God can give.  

    I encourage Pastors today to help their people learn to slow down, be quiet, and let the peace of Christ come into their hearts.  The same hearts that are often burdened with many worries and concerns.

    As a Viet Nam veteran who served as a medic at the age of 20 I feel I have a profound sense of empathy for the men and women who are returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with some of them after several deployments.  How can we as a faith filled people and Church welcome them home and help them in their adjustment to living a normal life again.   You can view more of my biography on our Staff Page.

I personally feel a parish mission is an excellent opportunity to invite our veterans and others who need to step back and examine just what God is calling them to this day.  So I offer my availability to assist Pastors and parishes in offering a time of reflection and prayer for their people to be nourished and enriched.

It is often helpful when doing Parish Missions to meet with the Pastor and parish team to discuss the upcoming mission and to discuss the unique characteristics and gifts of a given parish and to be able to meet and address the given needs of a parish. I welcome the opportunity to have such a  meeting.  You can contact me at Our Lady of Florida or through my e-mail address:  jconnor@cpprov.org.
