Promoter's Corner

With the help of our Retreat Promotion Ministry that branches out into any parish or group that requests to join one of our parish-based weekend retreats, we are able to get the message out to many more potential retreatants at the local level.

Our Lady of Florida utilizes this page to get current information to all of our retreat promoters.  We always welcome and encourage new parish or other groups to join us.  If your parish or group is not listed on our 2010 and 2011 weekend schedules and you would like to either join a current parish event or organize an additional one, please contact Mr. Don Wetzel.   We have the tools to help you become effective quickly.

When we get to the prize, even though we could not see it, we relish the journey even more. Ask one more person and you’re closer to having another new retreatant. The biggest challenge of a promoter is to remind previous retreatants to return and have them bring ONE new person.

"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch,

a smile, a kind word, a listening ear,

an honest compliment,

or the smallest act of caring,

all of which have the potential to turn a life around."

-Leo Buscaglia

We have a speaker’s bureau to assist parishes with their retreat promotions. If you would like to discuss having one of our priests or our Promotion Director visit your parish, K of C chapter, school or ministry group, please call Don at 561-626-1300 Ext. 121.  We have found that a visit by members of the spiritual center staff to speak at each mass for a parish has increased attendance three-fold and gives the parish more awareness of what is available to their ministries.

This year’s retreat left each retreatant with solutions to situations in their life and the ability to minister to each other after completion of the retreat. We are treated to a powerful forty hours of spiritual reflection and renewal. The opportunity requires a commitment of time, something we can chose how to use. By using this opportunity to refresh your faith, the time will be returned many times over.

Persistence is the key to successful weekend promotion. Notices in your parish bulletin, support of your pastor with announcements from the pulpit, and presentations to your parish ministries will help increase your attendance. The most consistent form of invitation is speaking to prospective retreatants on an individual basis.  There is never any substitute for a personal invitation from someone who has experienced the benefits of retreat.

The Promoter’s Workshops are scheduled for Saturday July 31, 2010 and Saturday, November 20, 2010. While you are invited along with your co-promoters to either, the July date is perfect for those having parish retreats in 2010 while the November date is great for the 2011 events.  The day begins with lunch at noon, workshop to follow, Mass at 5:00pm and dinner to follow. Your investment of this time will reflect in your increased enthusiasm and commitment to bringing new retreatants
