Scripture Retreat

Special Weekend Scripture Retreat:

February 19-21, 2010 (NEW DATE)

Presented by Fr. Don Senior, C.P.

“FROM JERUSALEM TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH”

 THE EXPANSIVE SPIRITUALITY

OF THE GOSPEL OF LUKE AND THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES

The Sunday Gospel selections for this year are drawn from the Gospel of Luke.  And during the Easter and Pentecost seasons we have readings from the Acts of the Apostles.  This biblical retreat will focus on the rich spirituality of the evangelist Luke as presented in his two-volume work: the roots of the gospel in Judaism; the prophetic and compassionate ministry of Jesus; the dynamic mission of the early community that gathers in Jesus’ name; the world wide mission of Peter and Paul.

Rev. Donald Senior, C.P., is President of Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, the largest Roman Catholic graduate school of ministry in the United States, where he is also a member of the faculty as Professor of New Testament.  He is a frequent lecturer, serves on numerous boards and commissions, and is widely published. He is immediate past President of the Association of Theological Schools of the United States and Canada.

In 2001, Pope John Paul II appointed him as a member of the Pontifical Biblical Commission and he was reappointed in 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI.  He has been active in interreligious dialogue, and serves on the Executive Committee of the Council of Religious Leaders of Metropolitan Chicago.

Retreat begins with registrations at 5:pm on Friday.  Retreat commences at 8pm.  Our program concludes after 11:am Mass on Sunday.
