OUR RETREAT THEME:

Christ Our Hope

 

When Pope Benedict XVI visited the U.S. in April 2008,  he declared the theme as:  "Christ Our Hope".  In his address to Americans prior to his Rome departure he said:  "Jesus Christ is hope for men and women of every language, race, culture and social condition. Yes, Christ is the face of God present among us. Through him, our lives reach fullness, and together, both as individuals and peoples, we can become a family united by fraternal love, according to the eternal plan of God the Father."

During this retreat season this papal theme will be the focus of our parish retreats, retreats for married couples and the Holy Week Retreat for 2009.

Christ is our hope:  the One we turn to; the One who shows us the way; the One who calls us to return and turn our lives around; the One who teaches us how to pray; the One who saves us and the One who loves us unconditionally.

In chapter 13 of St. Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians there is the beloved passage on Love.  Yet it ends with this verse:  "So faith, hope, love remain, these three; and the greatest of these is love."  While his focus here is on love, it is the kind of love bound closely with faith and hope.  And it is the hope one places in Christ to the exclusion of all else.  It is at once both demanding and freeing, both personal and communal, and both of the Divine and found possible in the human.

Pope Benedict XVI continues in his pre-trip address:

"The world has greater need of hope than ever: hope for peace, for justice, and for freedom, but this hope can never be fulfilled without obedience to the law of God, which Christ brought to fulfillment in the commandment to love one another."

If you seek hope, seek Christ.  Give yourself the gift of a retreat, invite a family member, or bring a friend.  This is an opportunity to experience Christ Our Hope within your life!

During these retreat weekends, through presentations, prayer and personal time for reflection, participants will have the opportunity to deepen their faith life in order to be Christ’s witness in our own time.

We offer you a rewarding weekend and an opportunity to relax in a quiet, peaceful, and prayerful atmosphere. It's a time to forget your business problems, home and family worries ‑‑ a time to get a fresh slant on your career, your family, your friends and your God.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:

Casual clothes are in order.  A light jacket or sweater would be a thoughtful addition.

All rooms are singles.  A few doubles are available on request.

If a retreatant has a personal health problem /disability, needs a special diet, or has need for a special room, please advise our retreat office when making your reservation.

Check-in time is from 5:00pm - 7:45pm on Friday with a pick-up supper from 6:00pm until 7:30pm.

Retreats usually begin on Friday at 8:00pm and end on Sunday after 11am Mass.

Our Lady of Florida is a No-Smoking facility

WHAT ARE THE EXPENSES?:

The usual offering for the Men's and/or Women's Retreats is $195.00 per person.  The usual offering for the Married Couples Retreat is $325.00 per couple.   The week-long Guided Retreats for Women are $300 ($225 for Religious).  A $30.00 registration fee must accompany your reservation.

Please Note:  The requested stipend for other programs vary depending on the type of program and length of stay.  Call the Center for details.
