Handing On The Faith . . .

. . . Celebrating Fifty Years

One of the great conversion stories of the New Testament is the account of Paul’s experience of the Risen Christ on the Road to Damascus.   But that moment was the beginning not the end of his conversion.

In the Acts of the Apostles and in Paul’s letters we gain insight as to how he handed on the faith as a faithful witness of Christ to others in the world.

Writing to the community in Corinth Paul says:    “I received from the Lord what I also hand on to you. . .” [1 Corinthians 11:23a]

Paul received the Good News of faith and was compelled to pass it on.  He and others we meet in the Gospel and other New Testament writings show us the way to share the teachings of Jesus – the faith we received.

From that ancient time until today Christians have continually handed on the faith and now it is our turn. We who have received the gift of faith and who have taken it into our hearts are now compelled to hand it on to others.

This year’s retreat theme:  Handing on the Faith will be a reflection on both receiving the faith and our baptismal call to hand it on, make it known through our lives and our words to others in the world.

Give yourself the gift of a retreat, invite a family member, ask a friend.  This is the moment – the opportunity – to be renewed – to come and rest in God’s Love.  This is the time to deepen your faith, so that your faith is strengthened for the journey.

During these retreat weekends, through presentations, prayer and personal time for reflection, participants will have the opportunity to deepen their faith life in order to be Christ’s witness in our own time.

IMPORTANT:  Individuals from any parish or group are always welcome on currently scheduled parish retreat weekends where room is available.
