Feast of St. Theresa October 1, 2014

St Therese is the originator of “THE LITTLE WAY”, which is the way of those who are not rich and famous, and who want to serve God their loving father through their littleness and simplicity of life. In other words she knew that she was not capable of great sacrifices, or of doing great and mighty works. What she decided to do was to choose to remain as a child in the eyes of God, doing all her duties with love and obedience, no matter how small and insignificant they were.

This is a good example for all of us. If we all chose to do everything that we do with love then we would be coming closer to God.

It is the Gospel! Love is the beginning and the end of the Gospel message. As we read and pray the Gospels and the Letters of Paul we can see very clearly that this is the beginning of a happy life.
As St. Theresa says in her autobiography: “I proclaimed: O Jesus, my love, at last I have found my calling: my calling is love. Certainly I have found my proper place in the Church, and you gave me that very place, my God. …I will be love”.

Let me quote Mother Teresa:

It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to love those close to us. It is easier to give a cup of rice to relieve hunger than to relieve the loneliness and pain of someone unloved in our own home. Bring love into your home for this is where our love for each other must start.
