Do you embrace your cross with faith, hope, and charity?
The prophesies of the old covenant are fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Although He knows the suffering that awaits Him, Jesus accomplishes the Will of the Father while “not crying out, not shouting, not making his voice heard in the street.” Jesus is faithful until His last breath and extremely meek. He understands that the only thing He can trust in is the Father and in His love.
Jesus had full knowledge of His Cross and the death that awaited Him. In spite of this, He offers hope rather than confusion to His followers. In the midst of carrying our own cross, we are called to still live our lives full of faith, hope, and charity. These theological virtues help us to be ready for whatever this world throws at us because in our souls we know that we were not created for this world.
Though he must suffer and die, the Suffering Servant will not cry out, for the Lord is his refuge.
