Walk for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation

To the Passionist associates and anyone else who would like to participate,

On October 9, 10, and 11, Deacon John Clarke, with the mission cross of the Passionists, will be leading a procession of lay ministers and faithful on foot to bring a message of justice, peace and integrity of creation into the streets of Palm Beach County. All are welcome.

Friday, Oct 9, 6 pm – Meet at Sunstar Aquatic 609 N. Federal Hwy, Deerfield Beach, FL 33441; begin walking by 6:15 pm end approximately 9:45 pm at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church 840 George Bush Blvd, Delray Beach, FL 33483. Distance – Approx. 11mi.

Saturday, Oct 10, 9 am – Reconvene at St. Vincent Ferrer and begin walking by 9:15 am; end approximately 7pm at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. This is our longest stint so it may take more or less time to reach our destination. Distance – Approx. 22 mi. Don’t worry though. There will be breaks.

Sunday, Oct 11, 7:30 am – Reconvene at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church 100 W 21st St, West Palm Beach, FL 33404 and begin walking at 7:45 am. End approximately 9:45 am at Our Lady of Florida Spiritual Center 1300 U.S. Highway 1, North Palm Beach, FL 33408. Distance – Approx. 4.5 mi. Beginning this last leg so early will ensure that we are all on time to attend 11am mass at OLOF Spiritual Center.

All participants are responsible for their own food and sleeping accommodations. Remember also, this is south Florida, please plan to be safe. Protect your skin and eyes; bring plenty of water to prevent dehydration and dress to protect yourself from the heat. There will also be some night walking, so it is a good idea to wear reflective clothing especially if you plan to bike.

Although, it is obviously not required, please consider bringing extra food and water for the homeless and impoverished people who we encounter on the way.

Anyone who wishes to participate but is unable to walk for long periods of time can still help. We may be in need of support vehicles. That is vehicles to ferry people from their vehicle location to the starting point of the walk each day. If you are willing to help in this capacity, please call one of the below numbers.
